Blog Post #6

This years English class has been really amazing actually. Mainly because of the way we use technology with our projects. Like our education project. That was in fact my favorite project of the year. I also enjoyed how we got to choose our on independent reading book to read for a novel this year. It makes it where if we didn't like one of the books we could just read a different one. I also learned a lot about the Holocaust i never thought i would ever learn. Some of the things we just very disturbing. But some facts were also very interesting. Kind of like on poetry Wednesday, you don't have to like poetry to enjoy. Once you get into a set habit of reading something once a week you kind of look forward to it. But my favorite all time novel i have read in English so far is I Am The Cheese. The book was so confusing, yet addictive to read. once i started i just didn't want to stop. I really enjoyed this half of the year and i hope the second semester is just as fun!!

The Last Blog Post For Fast Food Nation.!

In Fast Food Nation, the are trying to explain how fast food isn't really all its out to be. it is destroying our nation and causing many of our children to be overweight. Its states in the text..."Many of our children are becoming obese from eating out to much" I agree with closing down all the fast food joints. We don't need to be eating out every single day. Eating the thousands of calories that McDonalds provides with there french fries and McNuggets. They are trying to show that this "Food" we eat isn't really what we think it is and it is actually killing our economy. With children becoming obese to people dieing from working in the meat factories. Fast Food is hurting us in more ways than you think.

1/2 Of Fast Food Nation

Welcome back guys, Its Harley. I have now finished over half the book of Fast Food Nation. Whether we realize it or not, Fast food is really important. Yet if we ever new what went on in these food processing factories we would probably never eat fast food again. "Why do The Fries taste so good?" Its because of the flavor additives they add into them. whether we know this or not but almost every fry comes from the same place. its just about what the company does when they get ahold of them. Its the same for Beef. They kill so many animals a day its unbelievable. Workers say that they work so many hours and work for only minimum wage. "It is the most dangerous job out there", One former cleanup crew member says. They have to go in, When its pitch dark, and clean the thousands of gallons of blood on the machines and the floor. "Its the worst smell you will ever experience". They say it smells so bad you cant get the smell off of you for almost 3 days. People have lost arms, been crushed to death, and yet they just turn there head the other way. There was also one experience where a man was turned into lard and he was served with the rest just like nothing had ever happened.

Blog Update 2/6

Welcome back Guys! I have now read 2/6 of the story, Fast Food Nation. Fast food is very important to our economy. Yet they take advantage of us. They post these commercials to hook in young kids and make there parents bring them in. They know parents will cave into a crying child. That is why most fast food joints have a Mascot, or someone of interest to do commercials so you would remember them. Such as Ronald McDonald. Not only do they do that. Some places, Such as Taco Bell or Subway, they make there workers work unreasonable hour and still not get paid overtime. Subway is the worst about this. Underpaid workers, mainly teenagers. Why cant they be like Dave Feamster, Owner of many Little Caesars in Colorado Springs. Work to the top on there own.

Level 2 Questions

Why Does McDonalds have a mascot?
Why is Subway the most corrupt restaraunt?
Why did Ray Kroc base his restaraunt off the younger age group?
Why didnt Ray Kroc want his McDonalds in Disney Land?
Why were Teenagers underpaid?

Level 3 Questions

Is Fast Food really as important as it seems?
Do you think its right for teenagers to be paid under minimum wage?
Should we get rid of Junky Fast Food?

Fast Food Nation - 1/6

Hello my fellow peeps! My Name is Harley, From Mr. Dunn's English II. I am here, Entering this vast expanse of the informational highway because i would like to blog about a very interesting book called Fast Food Nation. Fast Food wasn't always a quick run through the Drive Thru. Car Hops would come to take your order then bring you back your food. The first restaurant to have a serve yourself style was McDonald's in 1940. Soon after Burger King and Carl Jr.'s (Hardees) was created. All self serve restaurants were based of McDonalds. This was a Breif Overveiw of the First 1/6 of this book. Come back later for more!
